I’m a front end developer, but I’m truly passionate about WordPress.
I’ve been coding since I was 5 when my mother taught me to program in BASIC. I switched to HTML with the creation of the internet. I was a freedom fighter in the browser wars and liked JS even though it was considered a security risk back then.
I was so excited when CSS came on the scene. Finally I could get rid of all those pesky font and alignment tags. Borders, backgrounds and font-weights, oh my! Since then, I’ve moved to using Sass, because I adore mixins and frameworks like Bourbon with Neat. Grunt/gulp makes me happy.
I’ve written a couple of plugins for WordPress, and built custom themes from scratch as well. My first major project was the Lord & Taylor blog. It was also the first time I worked with Genesis (trial by fire really). I’ve had the great opportunity to speak at Austin WordPress meetup frequently, and the honor to be a co-organizer of the Austin WordCamp in 2014.
When I’m not coding, I create jewelry. I’m very happy creating my own components from glass and doing beadwork. I knit and crochet my own clothing accessories and even jewelry too. I game online when I get the chance, mostly LotRO and EQ2.
